Winter Grant 2026 - General Arts

In the summer of 1971, in the wake of fringe festivals popping up all over the US post-Woodstock, budding event promoter Ron Bozarth was approached with an offer to host a rock festival the likes of which Washington State had never seen before. With his sights set on doing everything earnestly, peacefully, and legally, the Sunrise 71 Rock Festival was born. What followed was a slew of encounters with law enforcement, lawsuits, embezzlement, and insider sabotage which led the State to shut down Sunrise for good.
